The first dusting of snow has graced my land and despite my protests, it is finally time to pack away the Samhain/Halloween decorations. Normally this time of year I would be starting the rounds of local holiday sales and vendor events, but as we all know, life has changed.
Last year this drastic shift in the way I conduct my business felt very much out of my hands. It was like someone took the snow globe of my life and shook the bejesus out of it, set it down and said “figure it out”. It took almost a year for the dust to settle and now the pathway towards Spiraea’s future is starting to unfold. There is still much to discover and reveal, but I finally feel like I am the driver of my own vehicle!
When I looked back on a year without holiday shows I saw a year of calm and peace. It was the first time in a long time that I didn’t work myself into the ground. Normally by the time my family’s holidays came around, I was exhausted, grumpy and SO over people. A year without that forced me to ask myself “Correne why are you choosing this?”
So needless to say, you will not be seeing me at any local shows this year except in Sunderland on November 27th.
Support Local This Year
Of all the businesses on this beautiful planet, local and small ones have been hit the hardest. I cannot tell you how many of my friends have had to close their doors, drop their dreams and shift away from what feeds their soul. I have said this every single year, but this year the truth of it rings so loud ~ Amazon, Walmart and the other large multi-billion dollar companies do not need your support this year, small business does.
