Nothing says winter like hot cups of tea while cozying up by the fire. Affectionately called teacher’s tea (my local friends will be familiar with this blend), this has quickly become my favourite combinations. When I first created this concoction I was thinking about the needs that teachers would have as I was trying to create a unique gift that didn’t involve sugar or a gift card for my son’s teachers. I had a bit leftover and brought bags to a local craft show and they flew off the shelves. I have been making ‘teacher’s tea’ ever since.
What are the needs of teachers you may wonder? My main goal was to support both the nervous and immune system with this blend. A seemingly odd combination of plants come together in this delightful tea.
If you would like more information about why I included these particular herbs and the properties I was looking for, check out my video below.
The Recipe
If you need bulk herbs I highly recommend Harmonic Arts. Yes, I am an affiliate for them, but I am also a customer! I have been using Harmonic Arts for my bulk dried herbs for years now and I am incredibly satisfied with both their customer service and quality.
This recipe is in parts so just ensure that you use the same measurement consistently throughout the recipe. For example, if you decide your ‘part’ is a tablespoon, use tablespoons throughout.
- 3 parts dried elderflowers
- 3 parts dried peppermint
- 2 parts fresh grated or dried ginger I would not recommend using ginger powder for tea
- 2 parts oatstraw
- 3 parts hibiscus
- Blend all of your dried herbs together and store in an air tight container.
- If you are using fresh ginger root, grate it at the time of tea brewing.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you love this winter tea blend as much as I do.
