The hot weather is starting to arrive and with that come more sweating than usual. I love my usual deodorant recipe, but I find it can get a bit irritating for my skin during the summer months, especially if I need to reapply. I decided to try my hand at a liquid deodorant recipe that I could use as either a spray or roll-on that I could apply as a refresher part way through the day.

As I mentioned in my first deodorant blog, humans are supposed to sweat. Not only is it a form of temperature regulation, it’s a vital function of our body’s elimination systems. Toxins found in the lymphatic system travel to areas rich with lymph nodes (ie. underarms) are are secreted and therefore eliminated via sweat. Commercial antiperspirants are full of ingredients I don’t want to put on my body, especially in an area rich with lymphatic tissues. For women it’s especially of concern because the lymph nodes are directly adjacent to breast tissue and ingredients like aluminum have been linked to cancer. No thanks! It’s for this reason that I opt to make my own deodorant products.

I’ve been using the liquid deodorant for about a week now and I’m quite happy with how it works. If you are finding it’s not quite as effective as you’d like, you can customize it by adding some baking soda or arrowroot powder to the recipe.
