So last year I wrote about leaving my vegetarian ways and after much soul-searching my family did decide to start eating meat again. There were many reasons for this change and we did not come to the decision lightly. If you are interested in my thought process you can click on the link I shared above. Suffice it to say, after fifteen years of not eating meat it was quite a difference incorporating it back into our lives again.

One of the biggest challenges was the learning curve on how exactly one deals with, prepares or cooks meat. Sounds silly, but the last time I had consumed meat I was a terrible cook and before that my mother prepared it for me.

So when I discovered this rub online I was hooked! After tweaking the recipe a few times to use more natural and healthier ingredients I’m finally confident enough to share it with you. We’ve used this on whole roasted chickens, pork chops and steak so far and everything has turned out amazing.

Last night we slow cooked a beautiful six pound chicken in our CrockPot and it turned out perfectly. The meat was moist and so flavourful and the rub imparted such an amazing flavour. In that moment I decided I absolutely must share this recipe with you folks.

As a side note if you can’t find smoked paprika regular paprika works just fine. In fact most of the time I use regular because my little town doesn’t smoke it’s paprika 😉
